Step-by-step Guidelines to Getting Started for Instructors
1
Schedule a vLeader orientation webinar from SimuLearn for your class

(770) 452-1777 or academic@simulearn.net
SimuLearn provides an orientation webinar for your class at no additional charge.  This 45 minute overview illustrates how Fortune 500 companies use the program and allows your students to ask questions about VL.
2
Assign the 'Pre and Post self-assessment' (optional)
http://www.simulearn.net/download/VL_Self-assessment.doc
Some professors find it helpful to include an assessment tool such as this to help students and managers identify areas of strength and improvement after going through the VL program.
3
Assign homework for students prior to the VL Orientation Webinar from SimuLearn:
a) Install the vLeader program from the CD-ROM (follow instructions in accompanying workbook)
b) Read The New Core of Leadership & Using Leadership to Implement Leadership
c) View online demo
d) Complete workbook exercises though page 11 as far as the page that says "Attend Session Two"
The two leadership articles provide the fundamentals of the Virtual Leader program.  The online demo acquaints the students with the simulation interface and interactions with the virtual characters and ideas.
4
Provide student with program resources:
Coaching Assistance
coach@simulearn.net
Technical Support                support@simulearn.net
Or look for Frequently Asked Questions at:
http://www.simulearn.net/leadership_training/supportfaq.html
Please have your students reach out to the support services offered by SimuLearn at no additional charge.
5
Co-ordinate an conduct a class orientation using a SimuLearn corporate facilitator. This can be done at a distance using web-based presentation software and a telephone connection and a speakphone in the class.
If your class is unable to schedule an orientation webinar, students can review a previously recorded session:www.simulearn.net/video/Sessions/Session1.html
6
Review and use the "Sample Course Outline" document  for:
  • weekly assignments for all 5 scenarios
  • "good video plays" for all 5 scenarios
http://www.simulearn.net/download/Sample_Course_Outline.doc
This Sample Course Outline will provide ideas of how to assign each of the 5 modules per class/week or whatever is best for your syllabus.
7
Assign the Metrics Review video after students complete Scenario One
http://www.simulearn.net/metrics.html
This is a tutorial video which helps students interpret the end of metrics feedback for Scenario One.  They can then apply this to the next scenarios.
8
Review the 'Professor Answer Sheets' for all 5 scenarios
http://www.simulearn.net/download/ProfessorAnswerSheets.ppt
Helpful hints to optimize the leadership and business results for the 5 scenarios.
9
Assign the 'Strategies and Tactics Checklist' after students complete all 5 scenarios:
http://www.simulearn.net/download/Virtual_Leader_Checklist.pdf
After completing the 5 scenarios, assign this checklist to the students after they have attended a real world meeting or conversation; this can be part of their final written assignment and reflection paper.  They should identify how many of the 30 strategies & tactics they are now more cognizant of and are using in real world conversations after completing the VL program.
